Discover 'Egyptian Birds', part of an exclusive collaboration between Kunstsokken and the Rijksmuseum of Antiquities in Leiden. This design tells the story of the coffin of Peftjaoeneith through the eyes of two sacred birds – the falcon and the owl.
Limited Edition – Exclusive Museum Collection
On one side, you see Horus, the falcon god and son of Osiris, who was responsible for his father's burial rituals. This majestic falcon stands proudly on its pedestal, surrounded by authentic hieroglyphs. On the other side, you find the owl – the hieroglyph for the sound "-m" – followed by a flagstaff referring to the creator god Atum. Flagstaffs like these stood at Egyptian temples and were used to denote gods.
This sock is more than a design; it is a lesson in the language of the ancient Egyptians. Every bird, every symbol tells a story about gods, rituals, and the written word. The warm colors – ochre, blue, and green – are directly inspired by the original paint pigments applied to the 2,600-year-old sarcophagus.
